76.61. An officer may, after informing the employer as promptly as possible, be absent without pay up to a maximum of 10 days per year to fulfil obligations relating to the custody, health or education of his or her child or spouse’s child, or by reason of the state of health of the officer’s spouse, father, mother, a brother, a sister or one of the officer’s grandparents.
The days thus used shall either be deducted, where possible, from the officer’s annual bank of vacation days or taken without pay, as the officer chooses.
This leave may be divided into half-days if the employer consents thereto.
